Bloomberg BNA Investigates H-1B Visa Policy Changes
3/13/2018
Today Bloomberg BNA published an article entitled, "What More Can Be Done to H-1B Guestworker Visas? Plenty. The article examines the impact that the Trump Administration's policies have had on the IT industry so far.
For its article, Bloomberg BNA interviewed Goel & Anderson's Managing Partner, Vic Goel, regarding the Trump Administration's efforts to overhaul the H-1B program. Mr. Goel observed that the Trump Administration, in its efforts to address the alleged displacement of U.S. workers by employees on H-1B visas, is attacking the entire H-1B visa program, not just the aspects with which it finds fault. Mr. Goel likened the administration's initiatives to "using a shotgun to accomplish what might have been accomplished with a scalpel." Mr. Goel also criticized the perception that the H-1B visa is only used to reduce costs or displace U.S. workers, noting that the decision to employ H-1B workers is instead a matter of whether another company can be more effective and efficient at performing a function outside of the deciding company's core competency.
